These ADU plans open up to deliver 753 square feet/70 square meters of indoor-outdoor living space. The open-plan dining, kitchen, laundry, living and bedroom constitute the 753 square feet/70 square meters of floor area.  The architectural design utilizes an additional 452 square feet/42 square meters of external alfresco area for entertaining.

The architectural layout provides a terrace sun-drenched external area; suited for extended family or an artist in residence.  The floor area synchronizes with local authority planning schemes that provide planning policy for accessory/ancillary dwellings  The open-plan living area has raking plasterboard ceilings of the conform to passive solar design principles. The burnished concrete slab augment solar heat gain during the cooler winter months when correctly orientated onsite.

The architectural layout incorporates sustainability and energy-efficient design principles to maximize passive solar design principles.  The heat sink absorbs the winter heat gain during daylight hours due to the sun’s lower azimuth.  The radiant heat energy in the thermal mass of the dwelling.

The burnished concrete reinforced concrete slab heat sink releases the radiant heat energy through the cooler winter evening hours.  The fenestration of the architectural layout integrates calculated sun shading to eliminate the worst of the summer heat gain.  The highlight windows to underside of eaves expunge stale hot air using ‘stack effect’ ventilation principles.

The material palette utilizes gunmetal grey single lock standing seam cladding and fire-rated white paint finish eaves linings.  The white paint finish plasterboard walls are frame the black oxide burnished concrete floors. The architectural specification provides for 8 feet/2400mm high clear anodized aluminum joinery and timber pivot door.  Building servicing can include a solar hot water and Chazelle firebox for wood fuel boosting. Blum Aventos lift overhead cupboards to the kitchen cantilever above the Porcelain panel bench-top height splash-back window.
